We encourage courses to follow these guidelines and procedures to help ensure that golfers have a fun and safe experience using The Golf Bike. With a little time and practice these protocols will become second nature for the course attendants to follow.
- Golfer will check in.
- First timers will watch a short instructional video or get personal instruction on how to operate The Golf Bike.
- Attendant will make sure golfers can safely use the product by watching them ride and park their bikes. (This should be done with a low seat height for safety).
- Once approved, golfers will have their seat heights set by attendant.
- Golfer can then ride to their vehicle, transfer their equipment to the bike and go tee it up!
Attendant should check over bikes between rounds, put seats into the lowest position, empty trash from bags and wipe down for the next player.
This quick check should be done before each use (in between rounds). It should take less than 1 minute per bike to perform.
- Squeeze tires. If they feel squishy put some air in. Maximum air pressure is 40 psi. The tires will feel firm when properly inflated.
- Check kickstand, rack and bags to make sure they are secure.
- Squeeze brake levers to make sure brakes are working properly.
- Put seat into the lowest position, empty any trash out of the cooler bag and wipe the bike down for the next user.
The Golf Bike, like any bicycle, is a machine that will need periodic upkeep and maintenance. Following these guidelines will ensure that your Golf Bike will perform properly for years to come.
The most important service on your new bike is the free service provided within the first 30 days of use.
Your Golf Bike has been professionally assembled by a local bike shop. We have partnered with the shop to give you a free follow up service on your bike within the first 30 days.
Please take advantage of this free service! Each new bike will go through a “break in” process in which things will come loose and gears will get out of adjustment. This is normal with any bicycle. Getting this initial “break in” service will help ensure that your bike is running smoothly for years to come. After this, general tune up intervals for The Golf Bike are every 4- 6 months, depending on use.
It is advisable to take The Golf Bike to your local bike shop for a complete tune up every 4-6 months depending on use.
After the initial “break in” service, your Golf Bike should perform well for the next 4-6 months with minimal upkeep. During that time, however, there are a few things that need to be addressed daily if the bikes are used on a routine basis.
- Check air pressure and keep at 35-40 psi.
- Check the brakes by squeezing the levers to make sure they are working properly.
- Check the kickstand to make sure the bolts are tight.
- Check the bags to make sure they are secure.
- Check the nuts and bolts on the bike weekly to make sure nothing is coming loose.
It is advisable to take The Golf Bike to your local bike shop for a complete tune up every 4-6 months depending on use
- Tires naturally lose air over time and need to be topped off on a consistent basis. Low tire pressure is unsafe.
- When you check bolts be careful not to over tighten. You are just checking for looseness more than anything.
- Ride the bikes periodically to get an idea how they are shifting and braking and to catch any potential problems.
- Put a few drops of lube on the chain every month or so.
How to safely enjoy your Golf Bike
- Always stay seated when you are riding.
- When riding uphill, lean forward slightly to make sure your bike stays balanced.
- When braking, pull gently on both brake levers simultaneously. This will engage the front and rear brakes together and will result in maximum stopping power.
- Do not dangle towels or other items from the bike. Keep them secured in one of the bags so they won’t get caught in the wheels.
- Park your bike so it leans slightly to the (left) kickstand side. Park on level ground when possible.
- Park your bike with or against the prevailing wind. Parking sideways into the wind will increase chance of bike blowing over.
- Put kickstand in upright position before mounting bike and taking off.
- Always mount and dismount bike from the left (kickstand) side.
- Avoid riding your Golf Bike on the tees or near the greens. Park it where you would park a traditional golf cart, using the same etiquette.
CAUTION: Never swing leg over seat to mount or dismount bike. Keep legs and feet in front of seat at all times!
This basic set of tools and supplies will allow you to make minor adjustments and perform routine maintenance on the bikes.
